Congratulations to Timi Olanrewajy the winner of this year's Tony Burke Student Bursary! The bursary was presented to his father as Timi was unable to attend the draw on Saturday. Thursday last week was International Credit Union Day and as part of the celebrations of credit unions and their members, we held our bursary was that week.
The Bursary Draw
Representing St. Michael's Credit Union on at the draw were Declan Lynch, Jennifer McNamara, Fiona Sugrue, and Marion McSweeney. The draw was very well attended by applicants and also their family members. Declan Lynch the credit union's Chairperson said a few words prior to the draw, in relation to Tony Burke who the bursary is in honour of after many years of service to St. Michaels. Each of the applicants in attendance received a bag with freebies to help with their studies.
Planning is already underway for next year's Tony Burke Student Bursary. We would like to wish Timi and all the other students who applied the best in their studies. This year the bursary was increased to €1,500 to help meet the ever-rising costs of third level education and we would invite all Leaving Cert students to apply next year.
